Back to the dentist we went today! Toodie had her first teeth cleaning and it went fantastic. When we arrived at the dentist’s office she seemed to recognize it from our first visit but I would tell she had a few nervous jitters. She wouldn’t stay still in the waiting room and every 5 minutes kept saying the same thing, “Mommy I don’t want to go in there.” I tried to keep her mind off things by offering her a People magazine but apparently that’s not very appealing to a three year old! I guess she didn’t want to read about Jennifer Aniston’s engagement or plastic surgery gone wrong. Moving on! She didn’t even want to play with my phone, which is unusual. I was running out of ideas when the dental assistant peeked her head through the door calling her name.
After a short pep talk and a few giggles with the assistant, Toodie hopped in the chair and was ready to get her cleaning. I have to give credit to the staff at our dental office, they’re awesome! They are so friendly, personable, and take extra care in making their smaller patients feel comfortable. Toodie even got to wear a cool pair of shades during her cleaning. She picked out the patriotic design and it was time to get those teeth sparklin’.
She was such a good girl during her cleaning. Toodie sat patiently and most importantly, STILL! The dental assistant even complimented her on how mature she is for her age. Yes, mommy was proud. Being a sugar booger, she chose the Cookie Dough tooth paste and seemed to enjoy it. Yuck! I remember that stuff being so gritty when I was younger. It would get all stuck between your teeth like you brushed with sand. She enjoyed it though. To each his own! Last up was the fluoride, another NON-favorite of mine. When we finished up, it was time to pick from the treasure chest. For the smooth sailing Toodie got to choose 3 goodies, but ended up stashing 6 in her bag. She even left with a new Little Mermaid toothbrush and brushing chart. I think I can say she made out well from this dental visit! It doesn’t look like I will have that difficult of a time getting her to go back..

So glad she had a good visit. It makes the whole idea of going to the dentist when the staff helps them feel comfortable and safe while there. Sounds like you found a great dentist.
