It’s hard to believe that in a week Summer will be over and my little girl will begin her very first day in VPK. Time goes by so quickly these days! Our Summer has been filled with fun times at the beach, pool, park, and even the butterfly garden. I know I am not the only one sad to say goodbye to the sunny season full of outdoor activities. All good things must come to and end, plus it means Fall is just around the corner!
For the last week of Summer vacation we have been staying inside, hanging around the house, and venturing out from time to time in our local area. Keeping little ones indoors can be hard this time of year, especially when they are constantly looking for entertainment. Thanks to the Comcast Xfinity TV application, Toodie has been occupied in and out of our home with the wide selection of popular television shows she loves. While we prepare for school next week, there have been a lot of errands to be ran and shopping to be done. Being a Comcast subscriber makes entertaining my daughter much easier when we are out and about. There are over 1,000 downloadable kid-friendly shows and a ton of classic movies. When there is a wireless connection available, the programs can be streamed right from your tablet or phone. Otherwise, the content can be downloaded and saved.
Xfinity TV customers have access to all the best kids TV shows including Dora the Explorer, Angry Birds Toons, Sofia the First, Phineas and Ferb, Ben 10, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, The Chica Show, Sid the Science Kid, Lazy Town, Pajanimals, My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic and hundreds more. All of these programs can be downloaded directly to tablets and smartphones allowing them to be enjoyed in places where there’s no Internet connection. Many of these shows are popular in our home and watched on a daily basis through Comcast On Demand and now, the Xfinity TV Player app. I came across one of my childhood favorites, All Dogs Go To Heaven, and immediately downloaded it for viewing later on. I like that there is a fair mix of classic family friendly films mixed with more recent releases. This allows me to share my own movie memories and personal favorites with my daughter.
Toodie was delighted when she discovered Sofia The First streaming on the Xfinity TV application. In just a few clicks she was able to select the episode she wanted to view, and enjoy! Even a few of her favorite movies including Finding Nemo and The Haunted Mansion were available to be streamed and downloaded for offline viewing later on. This Summer I made sure to pack the iPad on all of our mini getaways because without an internet connection, entertainment can be lacking. Having the Xfinity application available on the go has helped keep my family occupied and amused from the short rides to the extended trips. Before we even get in the car I make sure that I have plenty of movies downloaded for all of us to enjoy. Even if we are just going to the grocery store, it really helps in keeping my four year old distracted while I get my shopping done.
In addition to the extensive selection of family friendly programs, one of my favorite aspects of the Xfinity TV application is the Parental Controls. Even at a young age my daughter is very tech savvy and capable of browsing through television and movie programs on her own. With the internet being so vast, it can be hard to monitor and control the kind of content our children are exposed to. Luckily, Common Sense Media integrated with Xfinity TV to help parents make informed choices about the entertainment for your family through a media ratings system based on child development guidelines. This makes it easy for moms like me to filter through kids’ content by age and most-watched programs on Xfinity On Demand. Whether you’re watching on a TV, PC, tablet, or smartphone, you’ll have access to this valuable resource by being a Comcast customer. This feature assures me that my daughter will not be exposed to inappropriate content and I don’t have to look over her shoulder while she is enjoying her favorite programs!

Whether you will be closing out the Summer with a road trip to the beach or staying in your local area, the Xfinity TV application will ensure entertainment at your child’s finger tips! With hurricane season JUST beginning here in South Florida, I know we will be utilizing it for the rainy and hot days that require us to stay indoors. If you are a Comcast subscriber, take your time browsing and finding the content that best suits your family. The choices are endless and there is something that each person is sure to enjoy watching.
