Alert your taste buds and get ready for a refreshing treat to close out the Summer! On August 20th participating Red Robin locations will be turning lemons into Freckled Lemonade to celebrate National Lemonade Day  and give back to the community. Restaurants will host lemonade stands serving Freckled Lemonade samples to guests while collecting donations to support Red Robin’s national charity partner, the Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation. Guests who donate $5 or more will receive a yellow bracelet to show their support. As a mother I am always more than willing to support an organization that raises funds for children with illnesses. Parent or not, I think we all have a soft spot in our heart for a child in need.

The Alex’s Lemonade Foundation emerged from the front yard lemonade stand of cancer patient Alexandra “Alex” Scott. In 2000, 4-year-old Alex announced that she wanted to hold a lemonade stand to raise money to help find a cure for all children with cancer. Since Alex held that first stand, the Foundation bearing her name has evolved into a national fundraising movement dedicated to finding cures for all childhood cancers. To date, the foundation has raised more than $80 million toward fulfilling Alex’s dream of finding a cure and also provided funding over 450 pediatric cancer research projects nationally. Isn’t that incredible?

So what is a Freckled Lemonade? If you haven’t had one yet then you definitely need to take advantage of the chance to try this delicious tangy beverage. It’s one of my favorites! Freckled Lemonade is made with a blend of sweet strawberries and Minute Maid® Lemonade. It also includes free bottomless refills which is a good thing because take it from me, it’s hard to stop at just one! It has been Red Robin’s signature beverage for more than 20 years, and is the perfect drink to honor National Lemonade Day.

Even if you are unable to make it into the restaurant on National Lemonade Day, there are four other ways to donate and do your part in the fight against childhood cancer. These include:
