During the summer we spend a lot of time on the go, exploring our city and keeping busy before the school year starts. Traveling back and forth from one place to another usually means we have to grab a quick bite for lunch or even dinner. It’s times like these in which the concept of “fast food” become a necessity. Lucky for us a new restaurant called PDQ just opened in our area and their service is pretty darn quick! Not only do they specialize in fast-food staples like sandwiches and salads, they also have the most incredible tenders in town. Trust me, I’ve had my fair share of the crispy strips since they’ve been open.
PDQ, which stands for People Dedicated to Quality, opened their first location back in 2011. It was founded on a concept that high-quality food, memorable service and genuine hospitality are the basis of an excellent restaurant. They had it right from the beginning which is why they’ve been successful in various states including Florida. I was thrilled when I found out they were opening a location so close to home and excited to try their newest menu items.
First up, the fresh Honey Marinated Chicken Nuggets paired with my favorite Chipotle BBQ sauce. These hand-breaded crispy nuggets are equivalent to little bites of heaven. They’re crunchy on the outside and moist within. Served on a bed of fresh-cut fries, this is the kinda lunch I could eat on a daily basis.
Another new menu item that I got to sink my teeth into was the Cali Club Chicken Sandwich served on a brioche bun. Whenever I see a sandwich layered with crispy bacon and fresh avocado slices it’s automatically a winner in my book. I loved the medley of flavors between the two buttered buns coated with a light layer of ranch sauce.
Of course, a visit to PDQ would not be complete without a basket of their famous tenders and a hand-spun milkshake to wash it down. The fresh tenders are available grilled or crispy but we love the extra crunch on the outside. Paired with one of their 8 homemade sauces, you can dip until your hearts content. My go-to sauce has been the Chipotle BBQ but they do have others including Honey Mustard, Creamy Garlic, Bleu Cheese, Buffalo Bleu, Honey BBQ, Ranch, and Sweet Siracha.
The PDQ hand-spun milkshakes round out the perfect meal. They’re thick, creamy, and come in different flavors. Toodie loves the Oreo shake while I prefer the Chocolate Peanut Butter. It actually has chunks of peanut butter cups inside and is served with an extra large straw so you don’t miss out on any of the yummy pieces mixed within.
Another popular treat on the menu are the fresh apple slices served with toffee dip. My friend calls it “crack dip” because it’s incredibly addicting. We’re still trying to figure out a copycat recipe for it.
It’s refreshing to have a fast-casual restaurant in our area that serves quality food made from fresh ingredients. You don’t see that very often these days and usually “fast” doesn’t equal “fresh” but at PDQ they deliver just that. PDQ values their customers whether they are eating inside or picking up at the drive through. I am more than willing to continue giving my business to a company that puts their customer’s experience first. After all, PDQ doesn’t stand for People Dedicated to Quality for nothing!
You can keep up with PDQ by following them on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Locate a store in your area and head on over to try their delicious menu!
Have you ever been to a PDQ?
If so, what’s your favorite thing to order?

this chicken looks so good – each one! and the hand-spun milkshake. I wish there was a pdq near me, if I'm ever near one, I must stop and try all of these!
