SNAP! CRACKLE! POP! Patriotic Pretzel Bites are the perfect sweet and salty snack to get you excited for Independence Day.
With Fourth of July around the corner, many of us are eager to get outside to enjoy the warm summer sun with family and friends. Whether you plan to fire up the grill for a delicious BBQ bash or keep things low key indoors, easy-to-grab snacks are a must have during any Independence Day celebration. After all, you’ll probably need something tasty to munch on while waiting for the fireworks extravaganza to begin. Why not grab a few Patriotic Pretzel Bites? A sprinkle of Pop Rocks make this treat extra fun!
PATRIOTIC PRETZEL BITES
These red, white, and blue treats deliver just the right amount of excitement! In the spirit of keeping it simple, you only need a handful of ingredients to make them. This is the same recipe I used for my Caramel Pretzel Pumpkin Patch Bites.
- pretzel snaps
- ROLO chocolate covered caramels
- white chocolate candy melts (I recommend Wilton Bright White)
- Pop Rocks Original Cherry
- Patriotic sprinkles
Pre-heat oven to 200°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and add a single layer of pretzel snaps in multiple rows. Place one ROLO candy in the center of each pretzel snap and bake in the oven for 6-7 minutes or until chocolate begins to soften.
Remove from the oven and top with another pretzel snap while the chocolate is still soft. Gently push pretzel down to sandwich the melted ROLO between two snaps. Transfer to a large plate or place baking sheet in the fridge for about 5-10 minutes.
In a microwave safe bowl, heat candy melts in 60 second intervals and stir constantly in between each. If the chocolate is too thick, add a splash of vegetable or coconut oil to it. This will thin it out and provide a smooth finish for coating the pretzel bites.
Using a fork, dip the pretzel bites halfway into the melted chocolate to coat one side. Allow the excess to drip off. Transfer to a clean sheet of parchment paper. Decorate with candy pop rocks and patriotic sprinkles. Place back in refrigerator for 5 minutes to firm.
