Sink your chompers into a piece of Shark Bark! It’s the ultimate snack to munch on while you learn all about the ocean’s most mysterious creatures.
SHARK BARK CANDY
Shark Week is here and we’re having a swimming good time! I’m a little late to the game this year but couldn’t resist going out with a BANG …or a BITE, I should say. Before you plop on the couch and get lost in a big blue sea of comfort, prepare this yummy treat for the family to enjoy. It’s sweet. It’s salty. It’s absolutely fin-tastic. Since chocolate candy bark is one of easiest things to make, I’ve been having fun creating themed variations of it. This recipe may be my favorite yet because it’s topped with shark gummies and mini Swedish Fish.
Similar to the bright and bubbly Rainbow Candy Bark I made last month, this Shark Bark recipe calls for white chocolate to be used as the base. I also melted light blue candy melts to achieve the swirls that resemble waves and ocean water. These can be achieved by using a toothpick or even a fork!
SHARK BARK TOPPINGS
Use treats and snacks that are ocean themed! Since Shark Week is a BIG deal these days, finding gummy sharks is easier than ever. I grabbed a few bags from the candy section in Target, but they also sell them at local candy stores and even T.J Maxx by the registers.
Here’s a quick list of all of the toppings I chose for my Shark Bark:
- Flipz White Fudge Pretzels
- mini marshmallows
- mini Swedish Fish
- LifeSavers Gummies (Island Fruits)
- gummy sharks
- Sixlets Chocolate Candy
- Navy Blue Luxury Sprinkle Mix
TIP: Try to balance out the flavor profile of the Shark Bark by choosing toppings that are sweet, salty, crunchy, tangy, and even spicy! Since this is a recipe that is completely customizable to one’s taste, you can switch out any of the listed ingredients for those that you prefer. Nuts, crushed up potatoe chips, cereal, dried fruit, crumbled cookies, cococnut flakes, and toffee bits make great additions as well.
Once you’ve added all of the toppings to the bark, allow it to harden for an hour or so. Transfer it to the refrigerator for about 10-15 minutes to speed up the process. Remove and break apart Shark Bark or use a knife to cut into pieces.
