As a parent I have always encouraged my daughter to explore activities she enjoys and those that help her grow. This includes playtime. In our home playtime is just another outlet for learning. It isn’t limited but rather nurtured. Whether it’s through a puppet show, crafting, dress up with our pug Chloe, or collecting stones outside for her nature collage- we are learning together. Playtime promotes creativity, imagination, and allows children to gain an understanding of the world around them. Not to mention, it’s just plain old FUN. Even as an adult I find myself taking advantage of playtime. I almost forgot how entertaining it is to get a box of crayons and some white paper, drawing whatever comes to mind.

This is the time of year that we enjoy spending our days outside appreciating the beautiful weather and observing nature around us. Spring cues a wardrobe change for little Miss Toodie. When Super Lice Attack!

If you have spent some time watching the news lately then you probably saw the recent segment on lice infestations. It is thought that the popular “selfie” trend is causing an increase in these little critters. Who would have thought that taking a quick photo with a friend would actually be the gateway to bug swapping? It gives me the creepy crawlies thinking about it! I remember having lice as a kid and it was no fun. The only perk is being able to stay home from school for a few days until the six legged critters die off. Thank goodness Toodie has not come home with it yet. I know it’s bound to happen but until then I can take precautions.

Five Funny + Favorite Moments Of The Week

One word: BOOGERS. First of all why do kids enjoy picking their noses so much? I’ve come to the conclusion that it could only be one of two main reasons. It’s either the satisfaction of picking a hidden treasure that they have spent all day working to dig up or it’s the sudden rush they receive when they wipe that excavated jewel on the furniture when no one is looking. The other day I was getting ready to wash my sheets and I noticed that on the wall above my bed was a collection of dried boogies, almost formed into a shape of some sort but I couldn’t quite make it out. Now I knew who they belonged to but I wasn’t sure why the wall had become a giant Kleenex. I didn’t know whether to laugh or get a chizzle. My little booger monster was forced to reveal all of her “collection” spots around the house and help mommy remove them asap!

Mommy ♡ Daughter Date: The Young At Art Museum #YoungAtArt

It’s been over a year since our first visit to the Young At Art Museum here in South Florida. Last week was intense stressful around here. Between working, preparing for a birthday party, and Valentine school festivities I was extremely exhausted by the time Sunday arrived. I was more than ready to relax and unwind a bit since I was off of work Monday & Tuesday. Typically when I am off during the week I take advantage of having free time to myself because Toodie is in school until the afternoon and it gives me a chance to get things done without any distractions. Since I was able to get some rest and run a few errands yesterday I thought it would be nice to spend a day at the museum before heading back to reality on Wednesday. Toodie has been asking me to take her to visit the Young At Art Museum again for a while now & this seemed to be the perfect time to do so. Yes, I let her play hooky from school today.. shhhhh!

Semi-Wordless Wednesday: Toodie’s Valentine Birthday Photos!

I am still in disbelief that my little girl is turning five next month. FIVE! Where has the time gone? It feels like just yesterday that I was swaddling her in a baby blanket and rocking her to sleep. I miss those days. I think every parent does. While I wish I could rewind time and relive all of those memories, I love watching her grow each day. She is so smart for a little person. Sometimes I don’t know where she comes up with the things she says and does. Soon another year will be behind us and I am always thankful to have plenty of photos to look back up on.
