I have been so excited to try the new Total Care Nourishing Shampoo and Conditioner! I consider myself a shampoo junky and am always purchasing new brands to try. Prior to this campaign I had never heard of CLEAR SCALP & HAIR BEAUTY. After a year of going back and forth with my coloring, my hair could really use some tender love and care. I couldn’t wait to see how this system worked and what kind of effect it was going to have on my own hair. I used this duo for this first time this morning and WOW what a huge difference it made. My hair felt so soft during and after washing. I even noticed a difference in the ease of blow drying my hair. Instead of being rough and tangled, it was soft and easy to comb through. Normally when i use a shampoo and conditioner that nourishes my hair it tends to leave the roots limp and lifeless. This wasn’t the case with this pair. My hair was soft and very smooth but still had a good amount of body. So far I am loving the Clear Scalp & Hair Beauty products. I am looking forward to seeing how it improves my hair over a weeks time.

Yankee Man Candles

 The infamous Yankee Candle has utilized their talents and created a new selection for that special man in your life.  This new line of “Man Candles” is available in four different scents. If your other half enjoys having a candle burning in your home but is sick of the flowery girly scents … this is perfect! With Father’s Day right around the corner these will make very nice gifts. I was kind of hoping they would come out with more than four scents but all four are pretty spot on. I only have one question, where are the “Dirty Laundry” or “Guys Night Out” candles? I’m sure they could pull off how a dirty sock and pizza with stale beer smells! I guess that wouldn’t make for a pleasant smell around the house.. 

Riding Mower: Hot sun. Cool breeze. And the intensely summery scent of freshly cut grass.
First Down: Game on! This combination of orange, patchouli, vetiver and leather is as exciting as game day.
Man Town: Escape to the man cave with this masculine blend of spices, woods and musk.
2×4: The warm, unmistakable scent of freshly planed wood and sawdust evokes a sense of confidence and quality. 

They even have football themed candle lids and really cute beer mug jar clingers to pair with the candles!

Toodie’s First Play-doh!

 
I did it. I bought Toodie her first PLAY-DOH set. I couldn’t resist. The kit alone was adorable. You can make your own ice cream cones, popsicles, and milkshakes! I’ve been putting off introducing her to play-doh for a while now but I feel like it’s inevitable since she has started school. After all, how messy could this stuff REALLY be? I might be hitting myself later when it gets stuck in the carpet or up her nose BUT every kid needs to experience it. 

When i saw the “Scoops ‘N Treats” box while shopping the other night, I knew this would be perfect for Toodie. She loves sweet treats, especially ice cream! It is also age appropriate which I was really happy with. It came with 8 play-doh colors, a waffle cone press, popsicle sticks, ice cream cones, and even sundae dishes. Hard to believe all this was packed in that tiny box! Seems like a really great beginners kit for someone starting off with play-doh. Toodie had a blast! Within minutes she was a “PLAY-DOH PRO” telling me how to scoop the ice cream and create a waffle cone. To my astonishment, she didn’t get it on the floor, in her hair, and didn’t feed any of it to our dogs!

Toodie was more occupied with the waffle cone press than the actual PLAY-DOH! The kit came with everything you need to make ice cream cones, sundaes, and popsicles. You had the option of making different color ice cream scoops and decorating them with a cherry on top, swirly designs, and even little hearts. Once she saw me making a mini waffle cone she thought it was really a pancake. She took all her play-doh pieces and pressed all of them into small waffles … or “pancakes” as she calls them. Forget the ice cream! It was all about waffles and pancakes.

Before turning the ice cream scoops into waffles we did assemble a few fun popsicles and ice cream creations. The popsicle was a favorite for both of us. She loved pushing the play-doh into the mold and pushing the stick in. All of them came out so cute and miniature!  The clean up wasn’t too bad and our first attempt at playing with play-doh was successful. If you are just introducing play-doh to your child, I recommend these little kits. It contains everything you need and you can always by additional colors to play with. I found mine at Walmart and from what I saw, they have popcorn maker one too!

I’m A Sucker!

               I know I can’t be the only mom in the world that spoils their child just a tad bit. I don’t beat myself up over it. Growing up as an only child I always had the best of everything and didn’t have any siblings to share with. When I look back now, I can definitely see that my family- especially my grandparents- spoiled me to death. Now that I am older, wiser, and more experienced I don’t really look to materialistic things to make me happy. 

               Every other weekend Toodie goes to her other grandparents house to spend time with them and give mommy a break. While I love, love, love… the free time,space, chance to relax …. I miss her terribly! It feels strange not being with her and most of the time I don’t even know what the heck to do with myself. When I go shopping or to the mall I always find myself buying her a little something to leave on her bed as a surprise when she comes home. Now I don’t go and buy a million things or spend a ridiculous amount of money. Sometimes i buy movies, puzzles, a new game for her leap pad, a dress, new pair of pajamas, a sticker book, etc. Different little things. I don’t know how I really got in the habit of doing this but my mom always tells me, “Now look what you started!”
                I remember when I was younger my mom would do the same with me. When I would go away with my grandparents to their vacation home for a week, my mom always made sure to pack me a few surprises for the long car ride there. It was always those teeny bopper magazines, word search puzzle books, and yummy snacks. I always looked forward to those special treats because I knew my mom took the time to pack them for me. I am well aware that by doing this I am creating a little monster but I just can’t help myself. I don’t do it every time she is away or every weekend that she is at grandma’s house. I noticed the more often I was doing this, she would expect it when she came home. Then that would take all the fun out of it and also the whole
“surprise” aspect. I had to start doing it here and there.  But I still love seeing her face when there is a surprise in her room waiting for her when she returns home. 
               I know that most of it has to do with how much I miss her when she is away from me. Usually she is only gone for 2-3 days at the most but that time really kills me. I have been with Toodie every day since she was born. As soon as I gave birth to her I gave up my job and became a stay at home mommy. I never regretted it and I am so thankful I was even able to do so. While i am very fortunate for the situation I am in, I feel like it has also cursed me. I don’t feel complete when Toodie isn’t with me. No matter what I am doing I am always thinking about her and wondering how her day is going. When I am out and about I always have her in mind. If I see a movie she will like at Walmart or a cute dress at the mall, I will pick it up without any thought. It’s like my mind is wired! I guess this is normal huh? Being a first time mom I have nothing to compare it to. It makes my day seeing her eyes wide when she walks in her room and discovers something special waiting for her. Am i a sucker? YEP! Do i mind? Not at all!

Silly Saturday

Toodie woke up a big grouch this morning. She tossed and turned all night and woke up three times randomly crying. I guess she didn’t sleep well and it has made her agitated.  Her mood soon turned around when she found this Halloween pony tail hair piece lying around the house. I’ve never seen it before but it has now become a dress up piece for her. It looks hilarious because she has brown curly hair and all you see in this big frizzy blonde ball on top of her head. It’s a magical weave that has turned her into a big goof ball. Two hours later and she still won’t take the thing off her head. In person it actually looks like roadkill .. but with crimped hair. I hope she doesn’t refuse to take this thing off when we go out later!

Easy Peasy Corn Salsa

 
Ingrediants:
1/4 cup green onions  (coarsely chopped)
1/4 cup of cilantro (coarsely chopped) 
2 cans of sweet corn
1 1/2 limes (juiced)
1 4.5 oz can of chopped green chiles
1/2 cup of ranch dressing
8 crispy corn taco shells or Tostito chips

Directions:

  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees
  • Chop green onions & cilantro
  • Juice your limes

  • Bake taco shells for 3-4 minutes or until crispy
  • Combine corn, green onions, cilantro, chile, spicy ranch dressing, and lime juice in large mixing bowl. Let mixture chill in fridge.

  • Break taco shells into larger pieces. Serve salsa over the shells or scoop up. 
 

It’s very important that you let the salsa chill in the fridge before serving. All the ingredients need time to firm up otherwise it will be soupy. As you can see everyone was too impatient here and there was no refrigerator time! But it still came out very good and the flavors worked well together.

 

Step Into Summer With The Children’s Place #placepoolparty

Summer time is quickly approaching! The sun is shining, the pool is warm, and the kids are ready to splash around in the water. Along with the beautiful weather comes a new collection of cute summer clothing to dress our little ones in. I was recently invited to view & shop the 2012 Summer Collection at The Children’s Place. This year it’s all about colors that pop! While their clothing is not only trendy it is also affordable.
The girl’s patio dresses are going to be huge this year. You can find them in a variety of patterns, hues of your favorite colors, and tie dye. The Children’s Place took bright colors and used different shades for contrast. My favorite was the purple and blue butterfly dress. I just love the girly details!

Shorts are also very popular for the girls this  Summer. With all of the different color and pattern choices you can easily mix and match to create your own outfits. All of the shorts can easily be put together with one of their sparkly graphic T’s or solid strappy tank tops. 


Plaid shirts, graphic t’s, striped polos, and roll up shorts are just a few of the items you will see in the boy’s line. Girls aren’t the only ones able to mix and match. You can easily pair a button down plaid shirt with a graphic T underneath for the layered look. There is a ton of versatility and you will notice a lot of the clothing pieces coordinate well together. 


Did you know that all of The Children’s Place swimsuits are coated with SPF 50 and rash guard? I had no idea! This includes infants, toddlers, boys, and girls swimsuits. Not only are you finding the cutest swimwear but you also have piece of mind with the added protection. If you are in South Florida then, this is a huge plus for those extra hot days at the pool or beach. 

 Vibrant tankinis and modest off the shoulder swimsuits are in for girls this Summer. 

 While the boys can choose from a huge selection of swim trunks- striped, tribal prints, camo, sea creatures, and bright colors. 

It only took me a few minutes to find the display holding the strappy Summer sandals encrusted with jewels and flower appliques. When anything with sparkle is around my “foo foo girl” radar goes off! This is something that comes natural being I am a mom of a little princess who loves anything girly. Even the footwear ties into the non stop fun oozing from the new collection. Glitter, sequins, bejeweled straps, bright colors and a touch of sparkle can all be found within the details of these fun sandals.  The jelly shoes were also offered in bright colors complimented by specks of chunky glitter. 

No Summer outfit is complete without those extra accessories to give it that special “POP!” Sunglasses, fedora hats, neon colored belts, floral headbands, and fruit inspired purses are just some of the pieces displayed in the girl’s section.

For the boys two tone and checkerboard sunglasses,  graphic baseball caps, fedora hats, and bucket hats with trim are HOT!

Here are a few of the things I picked out for Toodie.  I loved the new collection so much that I almost couldn’t stop myself! After putting her outfits together I realized that I need to make another trip and pick up a few matching hair accessories. Let me just add, i am seriously in love with that purple grape cross-body bag!

Fearless Toodie

The past few months I have been noticing something very strange about my Toodie girl. At first I didn’t think it was anything but now I am starting to wonder… why does Toodie LOVE scary movies?! She is only three years old, this can’t be normal. It all started when I found her in my room one day and the Halloween trilogy was airing on one of the movie stations. I didn’t even notice she was watching it until I walked in freaking out because even Michael Myers scares ME as an adult! I immediately went to shut it off, standing in front of my television screen so she couldn’t see anything more. She got so upset with me, yelling, screaming, and crying. I couldn’t believe it. I told her she can’t watch scary things. The last thing I want is for her to be waking up in the middle of the night from horrible nightmares. Every time I ask, she responds with, “It’s not scary mommy.” It’s always the same answer. Lately, I have been catching her watching scary shows and movies even more. Toodie is so smart. She knows how to use the remote control and look through all of the television stations. Now don’t get me wrong, there are times I do walk into the room and she is watching other shows. When it isn’t the occasional horror movie it’s music, jewelry network, and even the gardening channel. My child has very eclectic taste in television programming. I think the real reason this puzzles me is because she is deathly afraid of a bug, even an ant, but will watch a man with a scary mask walking around to creepy music. Whenever a scary movie does come on she watches intently and then starts cracking up. Could she really understand that it’s not real at her age? Nothing seems to bother her. Am i missing something here? I think I should invest in a pink cape for my fearless Toodie. She may just turn out to be a Horror movie junkie like her momma.
